We had a great turnout yesterday with lots of home-brew. There was a Stout on mixed nitrous gas, a English Mild, two Samichlaus clones, a Munich Helles, a Bragget, a Mystery Beer, a commercial Pale Ale and a Wheat beer from Colorado just to name a few.
Business: There was some discussion about the upcoming Peoria International Beer Festival. Volunteers are to arrive at 11:00 am and the doors open to the public at 1:00 pm. As a reminder we will not be meeting as a club next month in April and hope that everyone can make it out to the beer festival instead. Additionally we decided to hold a group brew during the following May meeting. So instead of meeting at the Wine Sellers we will be at 609 E. Piper Street. All are encouraged to bring your gear over and brew a batch during the meeting but it’s not a requirement.
This coming Saturday I will be holding an AHA learn to homebrew event in my backyard from 12pm to 6pm. So far it looks like there will be an extract, all grain, and possibly even a partial mash batch brewing that afternoon. All are welcome to attend and feel free to brew something yourself. For more information email me at email@example.com.
The holidays are fast approaching and like previous years the club will not be meeting in November or December at our normal time in favor of a combined meeting/holiday party in the early evening. Please vote for your preferred option below.
A reporter joined us wanting to know more about the club and homebrewing.
Three members were in attendance and none of us had a preference for the November/December party date. A poll will be placed on this website and an email sent to the listserv to get a better idea of when members would be able to attend.
While the attendance was low there were plenty of well made homebrew samples to be had. The style of the month was mead. Unfortunately there are very few, if any, commercial examples here in Macomb and none of the attendees were mead makers, yet. Maybe this style could be brought back up at another meeting.
The Performing Arts Society’s Beer Fest has a date, October 16, 2010, and a website. There is not much up there right now but I’m sure that we will want to keep an eye on this. http://www.wiu.edu/PAS/beerfest.php
